
The Research Center for Islamic Legislation and Ethics (CILE) resumes its series of events for the new academic year by organizing a public lecture on “Islamic Ethics in Era of Genome”. This event will be organized in collaboration with Qatar Supreme Council of Health on Thursday 2nd October 2014, 6:00 – 9:00 pm at B015 of Qatar Faculty of Islamic Studies, Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Qatar Foundation. The recent developments in the study of genes brought about many changes in the medical field along with numerous ethical concerns. The lecture will address these ethical challenges and how they have been dealt with from both ethical and Islamic perspectives. Prominent Muslim thinkers, religious scholars, and biomedical scientists will tackle this topic. Participants include: Professor Tariq Ramadan, CILE Executive Director; Dr. Hatem El-Shanti, scientific director of Medical Genetics Center of Qatar Biomedical Research Institute (QBRI); Dr. Khalid Alali, Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs at Qatar University; Dr. Mohammad Naeem Yaseen, Professor of Islamic Law and Jurisprudence at the Jordanian University.
