Despite the contemporary discipline of psychology being only a little over hundred years old, Islamic scholars have been discussing human psychology for over a millennium.
This lecture will explore some of the discussions of human psychology found within the classical Islamic scholarly heritage, with a particular focus on how contemporary Muslim scholars have attempted to bring this tradition into conversation with modern psychology. In this lecture, such contemporary work will be examined with a focus on both the strengths and limitations as well as the opportunities that should inform the next steps for the development of this nascent subfield of psychology.
This event will be held in English.
