
The Research Center for Islamic Legislation and Ethics (CILE) cordially invites you to attend a public lecture: “When Fiqh and Ethics are Disconnected: ISIS as an Example”. The event will be held on Monday, 16th February 2015, 7:00 – 9:00pm at Auditorium in the new building of Qatar Faculty of Islamic Studies. Dr Mu’taz Al-Khateeb, Assistant Prof of Methodology and Ethics in CILE, will give this lecture.
This lecture will analyze the organization of the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) with reference to its origins and evaluation as well as its intellectual framework and ideology. The lecturer approaches this issue by highlighting the original texts in Qur’an and Sunna, the current different discourses of jihad and Questions in regard to jurisprudence-Fikh- and ethics. The consequences of the current developments on the international context especially with regard to Islamic World will also be discussed. Dr Al-Khateeb will focus on examining the interrelation between text and context in the behavior and practices of Islamic State Organization.
