Doha, Qatar, 19 September 2017- The Research Center for Islamic Legislation and Ethics (CILE), a member of Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU)’s College of Islamic Studies, recently hosted a luncheon led by students as an opportunity for old and new students to meet with their professors and exchange knowledge and experiences.
The “Lunch & learn” event was held successfully on 14 September 2017 at the Student Lounge in CIS building. During this gathering, each of Professor Ray Jureidini, Professor Mohammed Ghaly and Dr. Fethi Ahmed greeted the potential students of Islamic Ethics coming from different countries including Qatar, Malaysia, Thailand, Jordan, Egypt, United States, Singapore and Ghana.
Throughout the luncheon, the students got to know each other more and shared their concerns and perspectives towards different issues around the world including human rights and Islamic ethics. It was a fruitful event in bringing students and professors together and as professor Jureidini highlighted:
bringing in experts and joining them in discussions and debate is a critical process in the academic process of both learning and contributing at the same time
This initiative supported CILE’s vision in engaging young and promising intellectuals to address modern-day challenges and look for ethical resolutions. It also adds to QF’s mission by enhancing the cultural life and student engagement in the community.
