
The Research Center for Islamic Legislation and Ethics held its first internal evaluation seminar in 09-11 January 2016 in Doha-Qatar under the title of: CILE Vision of Reform: Understanding, Evaluation and Future Plans. This seminar has been crucial to CILE’s path of development as it discussed the following:
· CILE’s vision of reform: Meaning and Objectives
· CILE’s and principles of research within the framework of CILE’s vision of reform and parameters of CILE’s research work assessment.
· Assessment of CILE’s previous research and future plans
Participants in this seminar includes; CILE’s staff including both academic and operation teams, CILE’s Advisory Board members and some other invitees from the Faculty of Islamic Studies. Dr. Tariq Ramadan, CILE’s Director, presented in the first day of this seminar on:
· Understanding Islam: the meaning of reform, the self, the world, Ijtihâd
· The sources of law, complexity of the real and akhlâq and maqâsid
· Rethinking usûl al-fiqh and maqâsd
· Requirements of effective applied ethics
While Sheikh Chauki Lazhar, CILE’s Deputy Director, presented on the second day on the following:
· CILE’s vision , methodology and the identity of the Center
· Development of the vision and parameters of research work assessment
This was followed by critical discussions in both days and presentations from each of the CILE’s professors about the inclusion of CILE’s vision on CILE’s fields of research, as well as critical reflections and comments from the Advisory Board members and the invitees.
This seminar set the parameters for accessing CILE’s research work that is based on freedom of critical thinking and sincerity to the CILE’s vision.
