
The Research Center for Islamic Legislation and Ethics (CILE), a member of the Qatar Faculty of Islamic Studies (QFIS), will be hosting a public seminar today (Thursday) focusing on the ‘Ethicality of Islamic Banking System’.
The event, which is open to the public, will take place this evening (Thursday) between 7pm – 9pm at QFIS, located within Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development’s Education City.
The lecture will mark the close of CILE’s specialised, two-day closed seminar about Ethics and Economics. During the lecture, the ethicality of the current Islamic banking system will be evaluated and analysed by a group of leading scholars with special theoretical and practical interest in the field of Economics.
Dr Abdul Rahman Yusri, Professor at QFIS, will be moderating the lecture. Renowned scholars participating include: Ali Al- Quradaghi, the Secretary General of the International Union of Muslim Scholars; Philip Molyneux, Dean of the College of Business, Law, Education and Social Science at Bangor University, North Wales, UK; Mohammad Fadel, Associate Professor of Law at the University of Toronto in Canada; and Umer Chapra, renowned thinker and researcher in Finance and Economics, and Senior Research Advisor at the Islamic Research and Training Institute of the Islamic Development Bank, Jeddah.
